Global Antibiotic Resistance Partnership Nepal/Nepal
Public Health Foundation is celebrating World Antibiotic Awareness Week from
16-22 November 2015 in collaboration with different institution.
In this context, GARP-Nepal organized Cycle Rally on 19
November 2015 in collaboration with Cycle City Network Nepal. About 80
individuals participated in the rally. Dr. Jos vandelaer, Country
Representative, World Health Organization flagged off the rally.
Dr. Jos in his remarks said that people are consuming
antibiotic like sweets. Even prescriber are not fully aware about the issues of
Antibiotic Resistance. He urged everyone to consume antibiotic only with the
prescription of clinicians as irrational use of antibiotic may lead to
antibiotic resistance.
Dr. Sameer Mani Dixit, Program Director of Global
Antibiotic Resistance Partnership-Nepal also insisted on consuming antibiotic
with care. GARP Nepal has also set up stalls in Basantapur and Institute of
Medicine, Maharajgunj in collaboration with Nepal Medical Students Society with
an aim to aware general public on rational use of antibiotics and the
consequences of irrational antibiotic use.
